/signed. I wasted 100k faction on Jade. Didn't think it was a waste then, know it was one now. Now that it does give you faction anway, well, it makes sense to do things this way.

Not many people earn faction of both sides at the same time...

Su usaully less than the 0.1% of the faction earned is lost due to givin points to the other side...

So... the value in the Faction bars total could be fairly used as the value for the title.

Faction spent, not faction given. You can't give faction to anything lese than the NPC in the same side... and you help them when you DO things like killing monsters or enemies... not when you give faction.

So this is absolutely logical.

And even if a lot of people did lose an equal amount of faction to the other side, where is the harm in rewarding them for it since they still earned it ?

Another thing I thought of recently is that currently ANET stores two numbers for each faction, your faction earned and your faction spent to each title. Make the title based on faction earned and you remove the need for the second number. Since the second number will then get deleted, it might cause a very small decrease in server loads, leading to a very small performance increase. Though I doubt any of us will notice it.

When trading in your faction to work on your title which way would be the fastest to level it up to Rank 1? Trading in 1k faction for 1 Amber or raising alliance reputation?

I know that trading 1k faction for 1 Amber gives me 1k towards the title but I don't know how much raising my alliance rep would give.

Alliance rep would give the same, which is why I've suggested making it give more. There's also another idea about simply allowing people to trade gold for faction.

These titles are crazy to try and attempt as they are now. Even if they allow it to be on faction earned, that'll just help everyone that's played for a while get the first title or two. It won't help them progress further, which is why I think there need to be better options for gaining faction towards the title, not necessarily making it retroactive. Then again, that's probably because I'm fairly new to GW and haven't earned that much faction.

I just think it'll be incredibly hard to max this title out, and get the best efficiency from the skills (unless you're part of a Kurzick guild that FFFs all the time).

Rewarding for past jade and amber is fair since it's rewarded now and they have the accurate information to do this. It would suck if they introduced the survivor title and didn't give it to somebody with the exp and 0 deaths... same thing.

The one part that may be less fair is with skills giving double faction, people who bought those would have less reward from this change. But the new system is still so recent that I'd still sign even if my skill rewards went down a bit.

Yes, the skills giving double points to the title might cause problems. One way around it is that when someone purchases a skill, they also receive 3'000 spent faction so that they don't lose any.

Or have a second number that records how many skills were purchased so that the title can still reflect the actual value. Though anyone who has purchased a skill, then deleted that character before this change comes through will lose out.

With the latest update and double points for faction donations, its quite possible that some people might have more points on their title than faction they actually earned if ANET leaves it too long. I'll be one of them.

So, to prevent people losing progress, maybe have the skills work off the higher or the title track or the total faction earned.
